"What is this obsession that has descended on black people? Why do
some of us think we have to be white? What is the excuse you have for
bleaching that dark, beautiful, tough skin? This isn't the 1940's! There
are no toilets marked "colored only" "whites only", there are not
separate entrances to cinemas and stadiums, there isn't the "Blacks sit
at the back of the bus rule" there is no social uproar if both races not
only date but get married, there is no separate sitting area for Black
and White people in a cafe, there are no issues when a black man plays a
sport!
Jackie Robinson, the first black man to play professional
baseball in history in 1947 was taunted, got death threats, some team
members were traded off to other teams because they couldn't accept
playing with him, opposing teams refused to play against the Brooklyn
dodgers because of the colour of his skin. But he stuck through it and
did what he knew best: playing ball. When he was incorporated into the
baseball hall of fame in 1962, his skin was black!
Martin Luther
king we all know him, was threatened in the worst ways for standing up
for the black race but when he lay in death, he was black. Nelson
Mandela! Yes the epitome of a freedom fighter around the world saw hell
on earth: went to jail for 27 years for standing up for a just cause. If
all these great people did not bleach their skins in a bid to be white
at the most heated times of racism that what is your excuse?? Don't get
me wrong racism isn't entirely erased but its nothing compared to what
it was years ago! We forget the things that matter and prioritize the
things that don't. People now bleach not as a medium to survive, but for
social acceptance. So my dears, put that nasty cream down and embrace
your rich, priceless skin. The Lord knew what he was doing when he put
you in it."
